President
Shawn MacDonald, Investment Advisor at United Planners Financial Services, brings an analytical, coaching-driven approach to financial advising. His passion lies in helping clients define success and build a clear path toward their financial goals.
Shawn was born in Italy while his father served as a Navy Chief, but soon after moved back to a small farmette in Waukesha, WI where he was raised. His academic journey included a semester abroad in Scotland, where he studied and played rugby, before graduation from UW-La Crosse with a degree in Finance.
Shawn's early career included a role as an operations manager at Roadway Trucking, where he sharpened his organizational and leadership skills. He entered the financial industry with an internship at Axa/Equitable — where his parents became his first clients — and later served as a financial advisor at a local credit union. That experience inspired him to develop his own unique approach to financial guidance. In 2006, he and his wife Tamara co-founded Skye Financial Services, Inc. to empower clients to explore and shape their financial futures.
Shawn holds Series 6, 7, and 26 securities licenses, as well as insurance licenses, and actively educates clients on efficient year-round tax planning.
Outside the office, Shawn and Tamara — who were married in a kilt ceremony on the Isle of Skye — enjoy traveling the world. Shawn is a devoted family man, home project enthusiast, and a longtime youth sports coach, having spent 19 years coaching youth football and 7 years coaching high school varsity lacrosse. Shawn also enjoys fishing, hunting, and being outside with his dog, Loki. Lastly, as a proud Wisconsinite, Shawn enjoys taking trips up to Lambeau Field to cheer on the Packers.
